Mums@Ryde Mums@Ryde is a group of mothers who have had or are having babies with the Ryde Midwifery Group Practice and are passionate about supporting the service. We all have our own backgrounds and birth experiences but all share an interest in helping other women to experience the midwifery care at Ryde. Research has shown that having your own midwife is good for you and your baby. There is a lower rate of intervention, shorter labours, less pain relief required and a much greater satisfaction rating by mothers. Ryde Midwifery Group Practice is one of the few places in Sydney where you can have your own midwife in the public health system. It was the first stand alone unit in Australia, and all the midwives are so fantastic that Mums@Ryde was set up to ensure our voices were heard championing their cause. We now support the midwives and the mothers by building community contacts, and we also advocate for maternity reform.
Our website, www.mumsatryde.org.au is designed to provide information about the Ryde Midwifery Group Practice for mums-to-be, and to help new families find the information they need relevant to our local area. It also has a second hand baby goods page for families to sell their pre-loved goods locally. It is always changing and being updated, so be sure to visit regularly.
